This Engish antique enamel sign is known as a rapper board. It gives the mine shaft lift operating instructions. The miners then had to knock / rap the number to which level in the mine they wanted to stop at. In very good condition and dating from around 1900. Earlier examples are on painted pine and later ones on paper.
