Antique Papier Mache Mother of Pearl Picture Shield

This is a unusual Victorian papier mache shield with an attractive oil painting scene of a lakeside with boats and buildings in landscape. The piece is painted in lovely warm colours and the shield is bordered with a hand gilding to the edge. The original hanger is still present in good order. This dates from around 1870 and measures 20 cms by 19 cms.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
