A fine and interesting chess board disguised when folded away as two volumes of ''The history of America''. The chess board is made of beautifully tooled leather on a wood base. The interior is also decorated as a backgammon board and retains the original boxwood and ebony chequers 15 of each. The whole is in good used condition, there is wear around the edges but nothing too great and it has a good colour and patina.
