Antique French Emerald Green Velvet Photograph Frame - Stunning Ormolu Mounts

Description

I was immediately drawn to this stunning and unusual photo frame because of it's rich and sumptuous emerald green colour with highly decorative elegant floral and foliate mounts following the shape of the frame.

The velvet has remained in remarkable condition especially as it dates to around 1880, so 130 years in age and must have been tucked away in a drawer for many of these years.

There is an original easel back on which the frame stands, there is a ribbon attaching the back to the easel but it stands perfectly without this. The hinge attaching the back to the the easel is marked Rte. SGDG.

The glazed front aperture measures approximately 5 1/2" x 4" .. and the entire frame measures 8 3/4" x 7", so a good size. Superb condition, a real gem!
