Very Unusual Victorian Inlaid Mahogany Tray

A very unusual, possibly unique, Victorian inlaid tray. The tray is of typical oval form and made of mahogany, the uniqueness is in the copious inlay with different gaming items, such as dominoes and cups. The inlay is in boxwood and the gallery edge of the tray is inlaid on the edge with ebony. The tray must have served a purpose for a particular game or for use to serve drinks when playing, but quite what is a mystery. The tray is in good original untouched condition with original handles and feet, and a good colour and patina. The inlay is reminiscent of Irish inlay and it may have an Irish origin. C.1880
