Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It can be hooked or mounted on the wall with the decorative scroll at the top of the rear panel and there are two smaller loops at the bottom of the rear panel ... due to these it doesn't lend itself to desk-top use as it wouldn't sit flat.
Dating to c.1890, Victorian in era, it remains in superb polished condition with one minor loss of wire to the base, see photograph .. mentioned purely for accuracy. Measures 9" wide x 3" deep x 6 1/2" tall at rear including scroll.
