Antique Treen Pipe Tamper - Shoe

Description

A finely carved late 18th century antique treen pipe tamper in the shape of a shoe with details for the buttons and initials carved on the end of the stopper. They were used to 'correct the draw' by pressing down the burning contents in the small round pipe bowl. Much better than getting a burnt finger!
