Description

A good quality mid-19th century fitted GAMES COMPENDIUM with its full set of original games.

The box itself is of coromandel wood (complete with key) with a front that opens to display the contents. These include: red-and-white bone chess set; matching draughts & backgammon pieces; full set of dominoes (also bone); set of six dice and marker pegs; original playing cards; Bezique scorecards and rules; lead horses for the "Newmarket" racing game together with jumps etc., and various other items. The board is in particularly fine condition, with chess, draughts and Newmarket all catered for. 13 x 8.5 x 7.5ins (33x21.5x19cms).
