Japanese Edo Period Ivory Netsuke - Hotei Upon a Fan

Description

As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this Edo period (1615-1868) c 1780, Japanese Ivory Netsuke depicting Hotei led on his stomach upon a Uchiwa fan, resting his head upon his hand and bearing his usual cheeky grin, he is wearing tradition Japanese Attire, the Himotoshi formed to the underside of the fan , a great subject being one of the seven lucky Gods of Japan ( lucky God of good fortune ), a very tactile well used item and a great addition to your Netsuke and Japanese works of art collection.

Notes:

Hotei is one of the seven lucky Gods of japan, he symbolises Good fortune and wealth.

In good well used condition throughout.
