Opus Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
There is a mixture of double sided with lower and upper case letters on both sides and bone tiles with just one side the capital letters. There are at least two of each letter and the vowels and some of the other letters have more, see images.
The box measures 9cm w x 6cm d x 4cm h
