Antique Tinsel Picture 19th Century Mr Hicks

Description

This is a fab 19th century hand coloured tinsel picture dating from around 1830. The picture depicts Mr Hicks as Mordenbrenner, a flash bucaneer chap or swashbuckler in a great, cocky Usain Bolt pose.

The characterful and colourful print is embellished with "tinsel" detail to his jacket, epaulettes and hat. These antique tinsel pictures were popular in the early 19th century but are becoming increasingly hard to find now. This is a really good example with a great subject and it is in its original burr walnut frame which is also in super order.

The frame measures 42 cms by 35.5 cms
