Chippendale Period George III Wine Cooler

18th century
Description

A particularly fine quality and thoroughly original George III Chippendale period WINE CELLARETTE of traditional octagonal shape.

Each side of the slightly tapering body is veneered in finest "flame" mahogany, with a similarly finely veneered top, whilst twin cast brass carrying handles can be found to each side.

It opens to reveal the lead-lined (and watertight) interior and it is supported on its original stand, with a fluted frieze and four tapering solid mahogany legs which terminate in 'block' feet and original leather 'barrel' castors. 31ins high; 18ins diameter. (78.75 x 45.75cms)
