Victorian Military Drum By Potter, London

A fantastic side drum in excellent condition from the Boer War era made by Henry Potter of London at the end of the 19th century.
 
On the side of the drum there are impressed makers marks and battalion marks:

The initials C I V stand for the City of London Imperial Volunteers and the number 2 stands for the 2nd Battalion.
 
The CIV were raised by royal warrant on the 24th December 1899 and they sailed for South Africa in January 1900 to serve in the Boer War campaign.
