A fine and large example of a Georgian map sampler. The sampler contains a map of England and Wales and is signed and dated: Ann Martin 1828. The work is in silk on linen and the colours are incredibly bold and strong, there has been some discolouration to the linen base but there are no holes. The sampler is mounted in a black and gilt hogarth type frame which has been later framed within a gilt frame itself, the effect works well and makes the sampler much more dramatic and imposing.
