The gilded brass base with further applied and superbly chased corners etc. and having an engraved clasp with working lock and key The spine and back cover in red leather with gold tooling. The album opens to an introductory page entitled "Friends and flowers" and an album of floral groups drawn from nature and arranged for photography portraits. There are 25 gilt edged pages with cut outs for 72 photos of various sizes and shapes. The thick pages allow photos to be slid into position from the top or bottom of the page. Each with a different arrangement of flowers, fauna and insects

Marcus Ward & Company was founded in 1833 and ceased trading in 1899. This rare photograph album is fine original condition and benefits from having a lock and key for the purpose of privacy. Size:- Length 11.5''/29cm. Width 10''/25.5cm. Depth 2.25''/5.5cm.
