Shibayama Lacquered Panel Hunting with Eagle

Description

This is a stunning Japanese Meiji shibayama panel of great quality. The panel depicts a hunting scene with two men and a hawk in mountainous terrain. The detail of the piece is quite exquisite with different shades of bone, abalone and mother of pearl having been applied and painstakingly carved to give their garments and surroundings both colour and texture. The figures are experply set into a beautiful gold lacquered panel. The work of art is in excellent order for its age and is framed within a later deep black lacquer frame which suits it very well. It measures 30 cms by 25 cms.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
