Cartouche shaped black marble 'Nero Belgio' paperweight inset with 5 finely crafted oval micro-mosaic panels depicting iconic landmarks of Ancient Rome .

The larger centre panel showing St. Peter's Square , the corners with panels depicting The Pantheon , The Coliseum, Temple of Vesta and The Forum .

In excellent original condition, with only minor chips to the edges of the cartouche.

The sides with a bevelled edge detail.

High-quality souvenirs such as this were produced in the workshops of Rome in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, to sell to wealthy tourists as souvenirs from their visit to the Eternal City .
