Large Pair of Japanese Meiji Shibayama Plaques

Description

This a superb pair of Meiji period shibayama plaques in outstanding condition, depicting beautiful pheasants on branches among blossoms. The pretty red hand painted lacquer frames are typically decorated with painted cherry blossom detail and are in crisp condition. The pheasants are superbly detailed in differing shades of mother of pearl, bone and abalone shell carved precisely and most attractively.

These are a really good size, each plaque measuring 72 cms by 54 cms. UK delivery is £25.

Rams Head Antiques is a family business based in Wolsingham in Weardale where we have had shop premises for 28 years. The shop is generally open every Saturday from 11 am till 3 pm.
