Antique English Sterling Silver Mounted Playing Card / " Whist " Box.

Description

A wonderful cognac coloured card box in soft supple leather and mounted with a solid or sterling silver border to the lid and " Whist " across the top.

The silver is hallmarked for Birmingham 1904, making this an Edwardian example; the makers mark CPB is for Charles Penny Brown.

The catch to the front is in perfect working order and reveals an excellent clean interior lined with a chocolate brown taffeta.

The cards are obviously not period, but along with the score cards finishes off this piece and perfect to give to the card player in your life. 5 3/8" x 4 1/4" x 1 5/8" high.
