Unusual Large Civil War Related Needlework.

A large and very unusual needlework depicting Lord Newark who was involved in the English Civil war and the Thirty Years war in the seventeenth century. The work is in silk on cotton or fine linen and while depicting a hero of the civil war dates to the late nineteenth century or early twentieth century. This is a most unusual item, the reason for it's existence is unclear, it may have originally been made as a banner. The condition is good, the colours bright, there are a few minor holes but nothing to worry about. The work has been recently mounted in a modern framing and details of Lord Newark applied to the back. A large and decorative item and a great example of needlework. C.1900.
