Shaun King Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The pieces have screw threads, with the larger pieces being in three sections. The CASTLES have detachable pennants.

The WHITE KING stands 5 inches (12.5 cm) high. The BLACK KING is slightly shorter.
Condition:
WHITE: Small chip to the column base of Knight. Chips to the top frill of both Castles. Loose thread on a Pawn

BLACK: Chip to the flame on the King and one Bishop. Loose thread on the other Bishop. Pedestal missing from one Knight. One missing pennant and two missing Pawns.
These are the most obvious faults.
