Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
All of the key fittings are in silver marked London 1823/4 -1824/5. It was made for George William Rabett. His name and crest is silver mounted on the flute and also the original mahogany and brass mounted fitted box with key and working lock and to include an extra mouth piece circa 1825. Included is a leather bound book from his private library. George William Rabett was a naval sailor who rose through the ranks to Commander. He was born in 1795 and died in 1858.
