Description

As part of our Japanese Works of art collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality intricately carved Ivory Okimono depicting a Takarabune ( Treasure Ship ) containing most of the seven Lucky gods of good fortune including Ebisu, Jurojin and Daikoku amongst others, the finely carved ship depicted as a huge Dragon boat crashing through the waves and aided by humorous characters rowing frantically, to the very top sits Jurojin upon a Manchurian Crane ( symbol of longevity )whilst reading an open scroll, the Meiji period artist Masatoshi has captured this exquisite little one piece Ivory carving in great detail, signed to the underside with a incised seal, a great addition to any Japanese Okimono collection and includes original Hardwood stand.
