Description

Very rare and large antique Dyak tribal carved horse head and jaw,c 1900. The Dyak were traditionally head hunters from Borneo and have a long history of decorating human and animal skulls. This is a very impressive piece, one of the best examples I have seen. The quality of the carving/decoration is stunning with the head extensively decorated with hunters, crocodiles, fish, turtle, female fertility figure etc. It has aged well with good colour/patina. Overall condition is very good with only a few teeth a little loose. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like to view the item.
Size: 47 cm long x 27 cm tall x 20 cm wide . I will happily ship worldwide, but this is quite large so please contact me for a bespoke quote for your Country.
