A 12" Table Globe by J. Lebegue of Paris c.1890

This is a fine Lebegue terrestrial Globe- Empires such as the British, the Austria-Hungarian and the Ottoman are shown to have conquered the world. Cities such as Constantinople, and St. Petersburg are visible.Australia is still shown as New Holland. Clearly marked re the latest railway routes, telegraphic cables and shipping routes.

It is made from coated paper gores over a plaster sphere. The Cast iron and highly detailed base has faces and lions paws.

The age of the globe has been identified by the political borders displayed: Persia, Belgian Congo. The Austrian Hungarian Empire is displayed as well as St Petersburg. Rhodesia not yet present.

Current Condition

In excellent original condition and patination. Small restoration over Western Canada (see images)
