An Interesting Folk Art Knitting Sheath

Description

An interesting Folk Art knitting sheath showing a range of features from chip carved decoration, cut out heart and decorated heart, four separate balls in a cages, open lantern, a chain, terminating in two prongs, ( probably originally made with four prongs) for holding the weight of the knitting/ ball of wool.

This antique treen knitting sheath must have taken a very long time to make and was probably given as a love token.

To oneside there is a carved date which I think is 1808!

It measures 36cm l x 1.5cm x 1.5cm
