Description

A wonderful example of an antique sterling silver Aide Memoire. Featuring views of two castles - Kenilworth Castle & Windsor Castle - and clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1842, with the maker's mark of the celebrated Nathanial Mills.

The silver work is wonderfully clear and sharp. The castles are surrounded with engraved scroll leaf frames. The spine in a dark red leather and the inside holds three invory tablets. The silver propelling pencil (which holds the aide-memoire closed) is a later addition, maybe a replacement for a lost pencil, and is hallmarked for London 1933 with the maker's mark of Wahl Eversharp Co Ltd.
