Circa 1830 Papier Mache Pole Screen with Foliate and Gilt Decoration on Adjustable Stand.

Description

Circa 1830 papier mache pole screen on adjustable stand. The screen was meant to be used by a lady while sitting by the fire, which she would adjust to the proper height to protect her face and makeup from the heat.

There is beautiful foliate and gilt decoration on both the shaped screen, as well as on circular stand, the whole resting on scrolled feet. The screen adjusts up and down the pole with the original fittings.

Size-57.5 inches high overall. Screen section 15 inches wide by 11 inches high.

A lovely piece of history in very good original condition, which would make a great decorative accent in any room.
