M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 1870s.

The largest central scene depicting "St.Peters Square". Clockwise, the scenes depict "The Roman Forum", "The Temple of Hercules" , "Castello di Angelo" ,"The Coliseum ", "Arch of Constantine ", and "The Pantheon".

Skilful and expensive souvenirs such as this were produced from the C18th onward by the likes of the Vatican workshops and others , to supply the demand for souvenirs from rich tourists visiting the Eternal City .
All in excellent original condition with no losses, repairs or damage. Minor nicks and small chips to the edges of black marble .
