Late 18th Century Norwegian Burr Birch Peg Tankard

A late 18th century Norwegian burr birch peg tankard with rich patination.

This tankard consists of a foliate design lid with central four-leaf clover carved design with intricate carving surrounding it.

The thumb knob is also intricately carved with fluting with a herring-bone design and the handle has a carved diamond design decoration.

The tankard stands on three carved feet with foliage design.

On the underside the tankard has a decorative, turned and carved floral patera with the initials 'LV' around the edge of the base.

This tankard is in excellent condition for age and can go straight into a home or collection.
