Description

This a delightful signed blue lacquer Meiji period shibayama plaque with hand gilded foliage and inlaid figures in traditional dress. The plaque has great features like the charming cat clinging to the central figure's kimono and the crouching figure holding a plant pot. The lacquer is in good order with a couple of minor nibbles to edge but overall really good condition throughout for its age. This has an inlaid signature tablet inset into the panel on the left side by the artist. The plaque is a good size overall measuring 76 cms by 48 cms.
