Pair Of Large Victorian Carved Wood Columns Or Pilasters

A superb pair of carved pine and walnut pilasters or columns to fit to a wall. The pilasters date to the Victorian period and are in the Etruscan taste. The pair are profusely carved to the front and sides and are covered in a fish scale background. The pair were obviously originally polished and gilded and have been stripped giving them a great faded look. The whole are in good order with only the odd slight loss here and there. The pair are the perfect height to display statuary or bronzes and that was probably their original use C.1860
