A Set of Victorian Mahogany & Brass Campaign Bookshelves

Description

A set of Victorian mahogany and brass campaign bookshelves.

The shelves consist of three mahogany boards with four brass threaded poles secured by four turned brass funnel shaped feet and four decorative finials.

Designed for Victorian officers, these shelves would have allowed for some creature comforts whilst on campaign or for service in India as many of the retailer’s labels state. Probably manufactured by the Army & Navy Co-Operative Society during the latter half of the nineteenth century.
