Description

A superior quality desk thermometer constructed from bone and ebony by Negretti & Zambra.

This superbly turned ebony base and support has a bone engraved plate affixed showing both Fahrenheit and Celsius readings and has Negretti & Zambra, London to the top.

Negretti & Zambra were a leading name in the production of meteorological and scientific instruments and have a company history dating back to the mid nineteenth century. They exhibited at British industrial fairs throughout and became makers to both Queen Victoria and Edward VII.
