Description

This is a pair of beautiful Japanese shibayama lacquer panels which date from the Meiji period circa 1860. The profusely decorated panels are in superb order and depict birds and blossoms in beautifully hand carved mother of pearl and bone. The panels are lacquered in a very attractive deep blue green and are handsomely set within carved hardwood frames depicting entwined dragons with eyes of bone. Very rare to find in such fantastic condition, the panels are substantial in size, measuring 89 cm by 56 cm.
