Gillows: Fine Mahogany Wine Cellarette

Description

GILLOWS OF LANCASTER: An interesting and very good quality early 19th century mahogany WINE CELLARETTE by this famous cabinetmaker.

The shallow gabled top features finely carved gadrooning around the flame mahogany veneered panels and the central carved tablet. The front, back and all sides are similarly veneered in finest flame timber, with typical Gillows beaded panels. Further below is beaded decoration all around and the cellarette is supported on pretty "melon" carved feet.

The interior has divisions, all lined in lead, and there is a draining plug in the base. This impressive cellarette is of good warm colour with a fine patina.
