A Finely Carved Japanese Ivory and Shibayama Tanto

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this fine quality Japanese ivory Tanto inlaid in the Shibayama style , this fine quality knife has been carved from one section of high grade ivory and with exquisite detail to replicate the decorative fuschi gashira and tsuba found on a conventional weapon ,the ivory has been decorated with semi precious stones and shells in the Shibayama style, the scabbard houses its original signed kozuka and is also signed in a mother of pearl tablet to the bottom carved mount ,an increasingly scarce find !!

The condition of the ivory and Shibayama is quite superb with no losses or restorations, the blade has light scattered tarnishing .
