Mid 19th Century Mother of Pearl Concertina Card Case with Silk Lining.

Description

Mid 19th century lovely mother of pearl card case with brilliant blue gilt edged concertina type pleated silk liners which hold multiple cards.

The mother of pearl is inlaid in diamond shaped pieces, beautifully, and are most lustrous and with wonderful natural colour. It is all intact.

Originally for calling cards, this makes a great case for modern business cards, and will surely stand out on a desk or in briefcase.

Size-4.75 inches by 3 inches by 5/8 inches high.

Excellent working push button catch.

This card case is in very good condition. It would make a wonderful gift for a collector of antique mother of pearl items or card cases, and is also a great piece to use and display.

Serpentine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1850s.
