Fine Antique Tickford School Sampler 1847

Description

This FINE ANTIQUE SAMPLER is the work of SARAH HOGGARD AGED 8 from TICKFORD SCHOOL and is dated 1847.

The SAMPLER, which is behind glass and in an ANTIQUE BURR MAPLE FRAME, is embroidered with birds, animals and plants and contains the sentiment:

'Religion's solace soothes the troubl'd mind

And on this prop - sure support we find

When ills assault us and when troubles vex

When foes disturb us, and when harms perplex

If on this never-failing rock we rest

Our God will send us what he thinks is best'.

The SAMPLER is in good conditon with no holes or repairs. There are some small areas of discolouration.

Overall Height: 19 inches (48 cm)

Overall Width: 17.5 inches (45 cm)
