A wonderful very large Sampler in silk and wool on linen. The sample has a wonderful triple border of stawberries, honeysuckle and sweetpeas. The centre of the sampler is occupied with a large vase of flowers with a wonderful butterfly and various typical smapler motifs. There is a charming central poem ''On prayer''. The sampler is not dated or signed. The whole is in excellent condition the colours are bright and there are no losses or holes, just a slight discolouration to the linen in a small area at the top as can be seen in the photos. The sampler is mounted in the original maple frame which is in lovely condition and of a great patina and colour. All in all a great example of a sampler. C.1820
