Unusual Chinese Solid Ivory Carved Mountain Landscape

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this most unusual but extremly well carved Chinese ivory ball , the heavy one piece ivory ball is carved to depict a mountainous village life scenethere are various huts on different levels , villagers on horseback and workers amidst a mountain backdrop with pine trees and foliage , the carving is as crisp and similar in subject matter to the more common Cantonese card cases, very tactile object and a lovely mellow colour !

The condition is great with the possibility of one roof support lacking , a very unusual and tactile carving.
