Stunning and very large 17th century and later carved oak overmantle .The quality of the carving is very fine with a central female figure flanked by 2 males and surrounded by arches , columns and geometric patterns in a typical 17th century style. The panel has aged beautifully with great colour/patina .Overall condition is good with only minor surface marks and a few small holes where the panels have worn. There are small areas of historic woodworm at the rear ,but this is long dormant and minor, all very much as you would expect from a piece of this age. There will have been historic repairs over the years but these have been sympathetically carried out, again are minor and in no way detract from this fine antique.
