Description

A stunning,very large and heavy antique 18th Century Chinese (we believe) bronze lidded bowl/pot, c1780. The quality of the casting is great, and this combined with the sheer size of this piece gives it a real presence.

It is profusely decorated with bears, camels and other animals, and stands on raised figural feet in the form of bears. There are ring handles on the body and lid. In our experience the decoration is unusual for a Chinese piece and hence our uncertainty about its origins.

It has aged beautifully with good colour/patina, and oxidation/verdigris giving it a green hue. Overall we would say its in good condition, with only minor rubbing/surface signs of wear consistent with its age and use.
