Description

Stunning and rare Georgian wine cooler/cellaret, c1790. The pictures really do not do it justice. The mahogany has aged beautifully, and it has lovely original inlay to the front and lid with areas of cross banding. It still has its beautifully cast original brass handles on the lid plus lion mask handles on the sides.

Of classic rectangular or sarcophagus form and raised on square tapered legs it also has its original zinc or lead lined interior and brass castors. This is the best example of this classic antique we have ever seen, and to find one in such good original condition is rare. In short, it is a beautiful antique which would grace any home.

The sarcophagus is structurally sound and in excellent overall condition commensurate with age and use and with only very minor age related surface wear. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact us with any questions or if you would like to view the item.
