Rams Head Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The action is faintly engraved with script, the walnut half-stock with a silver wire bound grip. This is a very nice example of a Martini-Henry and was probably used by an Indian cavalry trooper. The carbine is in excellent order save for some very light pitting to the steel. One of the suspension rings is a replacement (one is steel, the other is brass). The action works very well. The carbine is 102cm long overall.
