This is a wonderful piece of antique advertising and an added bonus to have a price list alongside the products. To get an idea of the value of such remedies at todays money the four shilling Munyons Vitalizer would comfortably been a days wage for a working man(1 shilling was redenominated as 5p in today''s currency). Made from oak with pressed steel display boards, one side painted over. That some of these cures in tablet and ointment form have now been lost to mankind seems incredible. Over 100 years ago you could spend a shilling and cure yourself of crippling conditions such as general debility or another curiously named female illness. A great piece of history showing us how far medicine and perhaps society has come.
