A Rare 18th Century Lignum Vitae Coffee Grinder

Description

An 18th century lignum vitae coffee grinder has three sections which all unscrew, the lid which then reveals the grinding mechanism, and where the handle is screwed on for grinding of the coffee,the base where the coffee is collected and when not in use the handle is stored.

Very similar one is illustrated in Treen for the Table by Jonathan Levi.

There are a few cracks and a chip to the rim of the lid, and there is a new brass knob for the handle, otherwise all good with a great colour and patina. A rare survivor. Approx 22.5cm in height by 10cm in width to the base.
