A very unusual rosewood letter basket with inlaid mother of pearl labels saying ANSWERED and UNANSWERED for letters.

The lid lifts up to reveal a divided compartment for letters. Working key to lock the box. Rosewood lattice work surrounds the letter box. Great colour and patina. c1840/50
