A wonderful pair of Victorian oak carvings, each a child with folded arms. The carving or term in design with no feet but terminating in floral swags with a scroll. The figures are modeled as a boy and a girl crowned with laurels. The carving is of the best quality, with lovely expressions on the faces. The whole are of a large size and were probably originally part of a fireplace. The figures have once been painted but are now clean and only suffer from a little damage on the boy figure at the side, as can be seen in the photos. C.1850.
