Fine Quality Japanese Ivory Okimono Sage and Toads

1900 - 1920
Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this finely detailed Japanese ivory okimono depicting a bearded sage with toads (possibly Gamma Sennin)the character balances three toads above his head while carrying a staff in his right hand , he has a bundle of gourds strapped to his left side ,with great detail to his costume and straw hat he is a nicely carved one piece okimono.

The condition is good and a lovely colour , he has an old stable age crack through the top toad and a 3mm loss to one of his flowing ribbons above the gourds , that is being picky but precise , a great addition to your collection.

Width 2.25" 5.5 cm
